Thea and her former co-worker, Geoff, had been planning a get-together in Dallas just to chat and catch-up. Fortunately for me, the spouses were invited as well. It was also a good excuse to get new tires for the Civic. (The old ones were nearly slicks.) So we hopped in the car Friday afternoon and drove down. Google Navigate had us taking exits and following the frontage roads at least three times. I had originally assumed that it would be to avoid work zones. But it turned out to be attempting the “fastest route”, regardless of the road-ethics of it.
So, we stayed at Holiday Inn Express which was walking distance to Tokyo One and Fogo de Chão. We dined at the former on Friday and the latter on Saturday. Over the course of the weekend I ate tuna, octopus, squid, turtle, eel, crab, snails, cow, pig, lamb, and chicken. We also visited The British Emporium, Kimbell Art Museum, and Lindt Chocolates (in the Grand Prairie Premium Outlets) on Saturday. And stopped by Fry’s and Ikea on Sunday before heading back. We came home with some chocolates, jams and jellies, a product called ‘Smooth Pickle” (ask Thea, I’m not trying it), and a glass wall clock.
A good time was had by all.
