Let me first say that this is not a museum for children or photographers. This is a museum for readers. Or perhaps there exists a word that combines the term narratives with a museum. There were a lot of oral history and written word displays. It was like someone took twenty or so American Indian history texts and created a walk-thru book of the parts that they all agreed on.
But I also skipped some of it. I didn’t do the ‘mound’ walk. It was already 90°F at 11:15 and the advisory was that it would take about an hour round trip without water or shade. There was an old west photography exhibit. But I don’t feel right taking snapshots of photographs. And there was an entire outbuilding of cultural heros and legends. Which also doesn’t appeal to my aesthetic. Here are a few of the shots that I did get.
