The original recipe I’m adapting from GimmeSomeOven has the flour measure in cups and grams. And I’m cutting the recipe by eight. So the original recipe called for 4.5 cups of flour. And that becomes 9/16 cups when divided by 8. Which would be a bit more than 1/2 cup. But the grams, 639, we’ll round up to 640 and divide by 8 to get 80. And 80 grams, according to an internet conversion table, is 1/3 cup. However the same table says that 639 grams is 5.125 cups. And 41/8 when divided by 8 becomes 41/64, which is closest to 2/3 cup. So the amount of flour needed is between 1/3 and 2/3 cup depending on whether I over-measure or under-measure the eggs/butter/vanilla trio. Since I’m supposed to roll the dough into balls, I’m betting that it’ll need closer to 2/3 than 1/2. Your results may vary.
3 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp unsulphured molasses
1/2 tbsp eggs
1/8 tsp vanilla
2/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/3 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/8 tsp salt
The usual method. Cream the sugars and butter. Add the molasses, egg and vanilla. Add the rest. Roll into 6 balls. Roll the balls in sugar. Bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes.
